July 13, 2019.

Today I'm still thinking about Bde Maka Ska, formerly known as Lake Calhoun. No matter what you call it, I do love this lake. Unfortunately, my favorite beach, the 32nd Street Beach, is currently closed due to elevated E. coli bacteria levels. Elevated levels most often occur after rainfalls, and possible causes include organic debris, sewage from a spill or line break, and wild and domestic animal waste. Beach closures are usually brief, so hopefully the water will be soon determined safe for swimming. This picture was taken near the 32nd Street Beach in July, 2014.
