Day 63: Beautiful Shoreline

July 29, 2019

I'm really excited to see so many native plants! This year they seem to be everywhere: businesses are using them to landscape, people are planting them in their yards, and I saw these coneflowers along the shoreline near the marina.

Native plants are so beneficial here because they create a buffer between the land and water. The buffer provides food, shelter, and nesting places for wildlife. It also helps to control erosion and protect water quality by blocking dirty runoff from the streets and surrounding areas. They also attract bees and butterflies and look pretty. What more could you ask for?
