Day 96: Golden Glory

The peak of goldenrod bloom is in early September and I'm seeing goldenrod everywhere. Goldenrod has bright yellow flowers and is an excellent source of nectar for bees and butterflies. The pollen is not carried on the wind, it is dispersed by insects and therefore goldenrod does not cause allergies. And it really is lovely.

"The fragrance and the color and the form, and the whole spiritual expression of goldenrods are hopeful and strength-giving beyond any other flowers that I know. A single spike is sufficient to heal unbelief and melancholy," - John Muir.
