It looks like a great place for a toad to sit, but the word "toadstool" is not actually a scientific term; it's just the way people often refer to poisonous mushrooms. I nearly stepped on this one pictured here, and then got down for a closer look. It might be a king bolete mushroom. They emerge in August and September and can be found throughout Minnesota. King boletes are edible and supposedly delicious, but since I'm not a mushroom expert, I'm going to let this one be.
