Day 12: Waves

Writer's picture: Cindy ValleenCindy Valleen

June 8th, 2019. 3:30pm.

85 degrees, clear sky, and toes in the sand. "Life is good today!"

Waves are most commonly caused by wind, or in this case, boats. As waves move towards the shore, the bottom part of the wave slows as it comes in contact with the sand. The upper part of the wave is still moving faster and it spills forward. This causes the wave to "break." And it's wonderful- although a bit cold this time of year when you get splashed! Water temperatures of White Bear Lake in June are in the 60's, it feels refreshing but I take my time getting in.
